Being a student athlete can be tough when it comes to balancing a sport and taking on a heavy load of schoolwork. The University of Nebraska at Omaha is fortunate enough to have a building designated just for athletes to help them through this process.
The building is called the Sapp Fieldhouse. Dani Brooke, director of student-athlete development, works up in the Hamilton Academic Resource Room where student-athletes can go to get assistance with homework or study.
“We help our student-athletes better balance the demands of academic responsibilities while participating in a sport,” said Brooke, “We try to assistant them in any way possible.”
The athletic training room is also located in Sapp. Any athlete with an injury is welcome to go their any time when in need of assistance or physical therapy.
There is a weight room designated for all sports team for lifting, which is also located in Sapp along with the gym where basketball, volleyball and track and field practice.
